This month, our fundraiser goes to support the Bud Anderson Scholarshp. Come enjoy our World War II themed event, meet Colonel "Bud" Anderson and fly in the DC-3! We will have WWII Jeeps on display, WWII aircraft on display, information booths, music, and of course FREE FOOD! Bring the whole family, in fact, why not the whole neighborhood, for a night of fun and excitement. We look forward to seeing you there!
A little history via Wikipedia; Clarence Emil "Bud" Anderson (born January 13, 1922) is a retired officer in the United States Air Force and a "triple ace" in World War II. During the war he was the highest scoring ace in his P-51 Mustang squadron. This was the same squadron as well known test pilot (and first pilot to break the sound barrier) and ace Chuck Yeager, and they have remained lifelong close friends. Towards the end of Anderson's two combat tours in Europe in 1944 he was promoted to major at age 22, an extremely young age even for a highly effective officer in wartime. After the war Anderson became a well regarded fighter test pilot, and a fighter squadron and wing commander. He served his wing commander tour in combat in the Vietnam War. He retired as a full colonel in 1972, after which he worked in flight test management for McDonnell Douglas. A member of the National Aviation Hall of Fame, Col. Anderson has remained a sought after speaker at aviation and military events well into his 90's.
The PCAM Wheels & Wings car show is a unique gathering of meticulously restored classic cars from every era, and muscle cars of every description!
They'll be parked right next to examples of the superlative P-51 Mustang fighter of World War II. Many of the Museum's high-performance planes will be on display in addition to classics such as the 1939 Douglas DC-3 and more from private collections.
Bring your camera, your kids, and your love of mechanical magnificence!
This is a great family weekend event.
This event is a weekend fly-in of Douglas DC-3, C-47s and variants. Aircraft will be open for tours, there will be some flying and limited availability of rides. It is not a formal airshow, rather a gathering of DC-3 enthusiasts. Flabob Airport in Riverside, CA will host as many aircraft as possible, these will be displayed up close and personal, no ropes, no crowd lines. The weekend will be full of programs and seminars and opportunities to talk with aircrew and operators. Additionally, there will be food vendors, a beer garden, entertainment and souvenir sales.
